New Species of Lizard Discovered in Vietnam

Local doctors reported using these geckos as a remedy for sore throats, highlighting a previously unknown threat to their population.
The Guangnan slender gecko is genetically distinct from its closest relative, the Yanshan slender gecko, despite their proximity. This discovery increases the known species of Hemiphyllodactylus geckos in China to 16, indicating a rich biodiversity in the region.
