Tragic Road Rage Incident Claims Life of Pregnant Teen in Louisiana

On August 24, 2025, 17-year-old Katelynn Strate was shot in a road rage incident in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, while riding in a vehicle with her boyfriend and his sister. The confrontation escalated when Barry West, 54, allegedly engaged in aggressive driving behaviors, including tailgating and brake-checking. During this altercation, West fired a shot into the vehicle, striking Katelynn in the head. Despite emergency medical efforts, Katelynn succumbed to her injuries two days later, after giving birth to her daughter via emergency C-section.
