10/3/2025, 2:29:50 PM

Overview of Upcoming Ships

Disney Cruise Line is set to significantly expand its fleet, introducing seven new ships between 2025 and 2031, which will increase the total number of vessels from six to thirteen. The current fleet includes the Disney Magic (1998), Disney Wonder (1999), Disney Dream (2011), Disney Fantasy (2012), Disney Wish (2022), and Disney Treasure (2024). The new ships include the Disney Destiny, Disney Adventure, and an unnamed vessel, among others.

Disney Destiny: A Thematic Experience

The Disney Destiny, scheduled for its maiden voyage on November 20, 2025, will be the third ship in the Wish Class. It will feature a theme centered around heroes and villains, incorporating beloved elements such as the Haunted Mansion Parlor and the Worlds of Marvel restaurant. New attractions will include the Doctor Strange-themed Sanctum lounge and the DeVil’s piano bar. The ship will also debut a Broadway-style musical production of “Hercules,” featuring innovative staging and a new song, “Shooting Star.” The Destiny will operate from Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, offering 4- and 5-night cruises to The Bahamas and the Western Caribbean.

Disney Adventure: A Unique Voyage

Following the Destiny, the Disney Adventure is set to launch on March 10, 2026, from Singapore. This ship will introduce seven themed zones, including Marvel Landing, which will feature three new Avengers-themed attractions, and the Disney Imagination Garden, showcasing live performances. The Adventure will also present a new Broadway-style musical based on “WALL-E.” Notably, it will include a new stateroom type—interior garden-view rooms with verandahs.

Future Developments

An unnamed ship, designed by Walt Disney Imagineering and operated by Oriental Land Company, is expected to launch around 2028 or 2029. This vessel will be a twin of the Disney Wish and will operate short cruises from Tokyo, Japan. Additionally, Disney Cruise Line plans to introduce four smaller ships by 2031, although details about these vessels remain undisclosed.

Criticism & Opposition

Despite the excitement surrounding the new ships, Disney Cruise Line faces scrutiny regarding safety issues. Reports indicate a significant increase in sexual assault incidents on Disney cruises, with 19 reported in 2023, 21 in 2024, and a projected 22 in 2025. This surge has raised concerns about the safety of passengers, particularly children, on board. Critics argue that the cruise line's reputation for being family-friendly is at risk due to these alarming statistics.

Official Statements & Responses

Disney Cruise Line has not publicly addressed the rising safety concerns in relation to the new ship launches. However, the company continues to promote the unique experiences and entertainment offerings aboard the upcoming vessels, emphasizing their commitment to providing memorable family vacations.

What's Next

As the Disney Destiny prepares for its maiden voyage, anticipation builds for the innovative experiences it will offer. With the introduction of new ships, Disney Cruise Line aims to enhance its appeal in the competitive cruise market while addressing ongoing safety concerns to ensure a secure environment for all guests.
