Industry LYNK 2025: A Platform for Sustainable Innovation
On October 3, 2025, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar hosted Industry LYNK 2025, an event aimed at fostering collaboration between academia, industry, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) for sustainable innovation. The event attracted over 600 participants, including students, faculty, and more than 20 speakers from various sectors, under the theme “Aligning Horizons: Talent, Ideas, and Industry for a Smarter Future.” Prof. Rajeev Ahuja, Director of IIT Ropar, emphasized the necessity of academia-industry partnerships to drive sustainable growth and innovation in India.
The event featured a panel discussion moderated by Mr. Abhishek Jha from TheCSRUniverse.com, focusing on “Industry–Academia Synergy for Social and Sustainable Innovation.” Panelists included CSR leaders from organizations such as Bajaj Auto Ltd., Infosys, and M3M Foundation, who shared models for joint initiatives in community development and climate resilience. The discussions highlighted how academia can scale CSR innovations to address global challenges.

UP-Converge ICT Partnership: Shaping Digital Talent
In a separate initiative, the University of the Philippines (UP) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Converge ICT Solutions Inc. to prepare Filipino students for leadership roles in an artificial intelligence-driven economy. The partnership aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry application, particularly in fields such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and digital business transformation.
UP President Angelo A. Jimenez highlighted the collaboration as a significant step towards integrating technology-driven solutions into higher education. The partnership will include a phased approach, starting with the “Future Forward Management Trainee Program,” which targets graduating students for intensive training in digital technologies.
Addressing National Digital Competitiveness
The partnership also aims to address the talent gap in the Philippines' digital landscape, ensuring that Filipino students are equipped to compete globally. The collaboration will feature innovative mechanisms such as student competitions and hackathons, fostering a culture of innovation and practical application in technology.
BASF's We-Chemie Initiative: Empowering Women in Chemistry
BASF India, in collaboration with Somaiya Vidyavihar and the Indian Chemical Council, launched the We-Chemie initiative to empower young women pursuing careers in chemistry. Since its inception in 2023, the program has trained 172 students, providing them with technical knowledge and industry exposure. The latest graduation ceremony celebrated the achievements of 37 students, underscoring the program's role in fostering inclusion and innovation within the chemical sector.
