United Airlines has announced a significant expansion of its international route network for the summer of 2026, introducing nonstop flights to four new European cities: Split in Croatia, Bari in Italy, Glasgow in Scotland, and Santiago de Compostela in Spain. These routes will commence from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), marking United as the only U.S. airline offering direct service to these destinations.
- Split, Croatia: Flights will begin on April 30, 2026, operating three times weekly on a Boeing 767-300ER. Split is known for its historical sites, including Diocletian’s Palace, and serves as a gateway to the Dalmatian Islands.
- Bari, Italy: Starting May 1, 2026, United will operate four weekly flights to Bari, also using the Boeing 767-300ER. This city in the Puglia region is recognized for its beautiful beaches and culinary offerings.
- Glasgow, Scotland: Daily flights will launch on May 8, 2026, utilizing a Boeing 737 MAX 8. Glasgow is celebrated for its vibrant cultural scene and historical significance.
- Santiago de Compostela, Spain: This route will commence on May 22, 2026, with three weekly flights on a Boeing 737 MAX 8. The city is famous for being the endpoint of the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage.
In addition to these new routes, United will enhance its existing services by adding a daily flight from Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) to Reykjavik, Iceland, starting May 21, 2026, and a year-round daily flight from Newark to Seoul, South Korea, beginning September 4, 2026.
