Texas Instruments Unveils New Power Management Solutions
Texas Instruments (TI) has introduced a suite of power-management chips and design resources aimed at addressing the increasing demands of artificial intelligence (AI) computing. These solutions, which will be showcased at the Open Compute Summit (OCP) from October 13-16 in San Jose, California, are designed to support scalable power-management architectures ranging from 12V to 800 VDC. TI's collaboration with NVIDIA focuses on developing power-management devices that can accommodate the anticipated growth in IT rack power, expected to exceed 1MW within the next two to three years.
Key offerings include a dual-stage power-supply reference design capable of supporting stringent AI workloads, featuring advanced power factor correction and inductor-capacitor converters. Additionally, TI has launched the CSD965203B, a dual-phase smart power stage that delivers 100A of peak current per phase, enhancing efficiency and performance in compact designs.
Renesas Electronics Supports 800V Power Architecture
Renesas Electronics Corporation is also contributing to the evolution of power infrastructure for AI by backing NVIDIA's 800V power architecture. The company is focusing on wide-bandgap semiconductors, particularly Gallium Nitride (GaN) FET switches, which facilitate faster switching and reduced energy losses. Renesas' GaN solutions are designed to support efficient DC/DC power conversion, with operating voltages ranging from 48V to 800V, thereby enhancing power density and thermal management in data centers.

Analog Devices Launches ADI Power Studio
Analog Devices has unveiled ADI Power Studio, a comprehensive suite of design tools intended to streamline the development of complex power systems. This platform integrates advanced modeling, component recommendations, and efficiency analysis, enabling engineers to design more efficient and power-dense systems. The ADI Power Studio includes two new web-based tools: the Power Studio Planner for system-level design and the Power Studio Designer for integrated circuit-level design.
Robert Reay, Vice President at Analog Devices, described ADI Power Studio as a design ecosystem that enhances workflow and decision-making, ultimately reducing development cycles and increasing the speed at which engineers can bring power-dense systems to market.
