Overview of Ranked Battles Season 3

The Pokémon Company has announced the commencement of the Pokémon Legends: Z-A Ranked Battles Season 3, which will take place from November 27, 2025, at 6:00 AM UTC until December 18, 2025. This competitive event allows Trainers to engage in four-player, real-time online battles against opponents worldwide. Participants will begin at Rank Z and can progress to the highest rank, Rank A, based on their performance.

Key Rewards for Participants

Trainers who achieve Rank S or higher during this season will receive a special reward: Chesnaughtite, a Mega Stone required to evolve Chesnaught into Mega Chesnaught. Additionally, Mega Stones from the previous season will be available again. Specifically, Greninjite will be awarded to those reaching Rank Y, while Delphoxite will be given to those who attain Rank V. These Mega Stones cannot be obtained through regular gameplay, making participation in the Ranked Battles particularly appealing for fans of the Generation VI starters.

Eligible Pokémon and Battle Mechanics

For Season 3, only Pokémon numbered 001 to 231 in the Lumiose Pokédex are eligible for competition. All Pokémon will automatically be set to level 50 during battles, regardless of their actual level. Trainers can register Pokémon from level 1 to level 100, and regional forms are permitted, although only one Pokémon of the same species may be included in a team. Notably, participants can only include one of the following special Pokémon in their lineup: Xerneas, Yveltal, Zygarde, or Diancie.

Types of Rewards

The rewards structure for Ranked Battles consists of three categories:

1. Battle Rewards: Earned at the end of each match, regardless of the outcome.

2. Promotion Rewards: Granted upon advancing to the next rank.

3. Season Rewards: Based on the final rank achieved at the end of the season.

Specific rewards for various ranks include items such as Safari Balls, Gold Bottle Caps, and Seeds of Mastery, which are useful for training Pokémon.

Official Statements & Responses

The Pokémon Company emphasized the importance of participating in Ranked Battles, stating that "this season offers Trainers an opportunity to sharpen and test their skills." They encourage players to take advantage of the unique rewards available, particularly the exclusive Mega Stones.

Criticism & Opposition

While the announcement has been largely well-received, some community members have expressed concerns regarding the limited Pokémon eligibility, arguing that it restricts diversity in team compositions. Others have noted that the competitive nature of the event may discourage casual players from participating.

What's Next

As the start date approaches, Trainers are encouraged to prepare for the upcoming battles by familiarizing themselves with the Ranked Battles system and strategizing their team compositions. The Pokémon Company will provide further updates and guides to assist players in maximizing their performance during Season 3.
