Key Differences Between NASCAR and IMSA
Zilisch noted that the performance characteristics of IMSA cars differ significantly from those of NASCAR vehicles. He explained, “The capability is obviously a lot different, a lot more downforce, lighter, a lot of power.” NASCAR cars are heavier stock vehicles equipped with V8 engines producing around 670 horsepower, primarily designed for oval tracks. In contrast, IMSA cars are lighter, utilize advanced aerodynamics, and feature sophisticated technologies such as paddle shifters and advanced braking systems, which are not present in traditional NASCAR stock cars.
Training and Performance Expectations
During his recent training session, Zilisch completed 33 laps in the No. 31 Action Express Racing Cadillac V-Series. His previous experience includes a successful debut in the LMP2 class at just 17 years old, where he secured a victory. As he prepares for the Rolex 24, Zilisch's adaptability and performance will be closely monitored, with expectations high for his upcoming participation.
