Daniel Kluver, a 42-year-old factory worker from Olivia, Minnesota, became a victim of identity theft that led to severe financial and legal repercussions for him and his family. For over a decade, Kluver faced wrongful tax bills and legal troubles due to an illegal migrant, Romeo Perez-Bravo, who had stolen his identity. The situation escalated when Kluver was implicated in a fatal car accident involving a 68-year-old man, further complicating his life.

Kluver's ordeal began when he started receiving unexpected tax bills from the IRS, indicating he was earning over $130,000 annually from multiple jobs, which he had never held. Despite filing numerous identity theft reports, Kluver received little assistance until an ICE raid in early 2024 led to the arrest of Perez-Bravo, who had been using Kluver's Social Security number since 2009. Kluver's life took a dramatic turn when he was pulled over by police and learned his license was suspended due to alleged offenses committed by Perez-Bravo.

Romeo Perez-Bravo, who entered the U.S. illegally at the age of 16, had a history of criminal activity under Kluver's name, including multiple DUIs and assault charges. In 2022, he was involved in a car accident that resulted in the death of a grandfather and injuries to a child.
