Macaulay Culkin Open to Home Alone Sequel with New Concept

Macaulay Culkin, the original star of the "Home Alone" franchise, expressed a willingness to reprise his iconic role as Kevin McCallister in a potential sequel. During his “A Nostalgic Night with Macaulay Culkin” tour, he shared a concept that he believes could work for a new film. Culkin's idea centers around his character as a widower or divorcee who is raising a child. He described a scenario where he becomes disconnected from his son, leading to a humorous yet poignant conflict. “I get locked out. [Kevin’s son] won’t let me in… and he’s the one setting traps for me,” Culkin explained, suggesting that the house serves as a metaphor for their relationship.

The "Home Alone" franchise catapulted Culkin to fame in the 1990s, with the first film grossing $476 million worldwide, making it the second-highest-grossing film of 1990. Culkin reprised his role in the 1992 sequel, "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York." However, both he and director Chris Columbus distanced themselves from "Home Alone 3," released in 1997, and a fourth installment that aired on television in 2002.
