While he acknowledges the potential benefits of AI in visual effects, he describes the idea of AI-generated actors as “horrifying.” In a recent interview with CBS Sunday Morning, Cameron emphasized that generative AI could fundamentally alter the essence of performance in filmmaking, which he regards as a celebration of the actor-director relationship. He expressed concern that AI could create characters and performances from scratch, undermining the authenticity and artistry that human actors bring to their roles.
