Story summary

The Sacramento Kings miss Domantas Sabonis due to a partially torn meniscus, and updates on his injury are expected.
Rookie Maxime Raynaud, who scored a career-high 25 points against the Houston Rockets, may start.
Coach Doug Christie said Raynaud could improve the team's spacing, which has been a weakness.
The Kings hold a 5-17 record and face top Western Conference teams, with their next game against the Miami Heat.

History

Historical Context

The Sacramento Kings, established in 1923, experienced their peak in the early 2000s, highlighted by a franchise-best 61 wins in the 2001-02 season. This success, led by stars like Chris Webber and Peja Stojakovic, ended with a controversial playoff loss to the Lakers. Since then, the Kings have faced a 16-year playoff drought, recently exacerbated by injuries, including to Domantas Sabonis.
