This remarkable achievement surpasses the previous record held by Anish Sarkar, who reached a rating at three years, eight months, and 19 days in November 2024. Kushwaha, hailing from the Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh, currently holds a rapid rating of 1,572, a score that exceeds many adult players.

To obtain a FIDE rating, a player must defeat at least one rated opponent in FIDE-sanctioned tournaments. Kushwaha accomplished this by defeating three rated players across various events in Madhya Pradesh and other regions of India.

Kushwaha's journey into chess began at the age of two and a half, and he practices for four to five hours daily, which includes time spent at a chess training center and online games. His father, Siddharth Singh, noted that they recognized his exceptional aptitude for learning early on, prompting them to introduce him to chess. "We pushed him into chess last year because we noticed his mind was a sponge," Singh stated.

Kushwaha is coached by Nitin Chaurasiya, who initially faced challenges in training the young prodigy due to his emotional responses to strict coaching. Chaurasiya adapted his methods by rewarding Kushwaha with treats for correct moves, which helped motivate him. Chaurasiya remarked on Kushwaha's extraordinary capabilities, stating, "You can see his guts when he plays," and expressed intentions to seek additional coaching resources to further develop Kushwaha's skills.
