Laura Segura Appointed Executive Director of She Is The Music

Laura Segura has been appointed as the executive director of She Is The Music (SITM), a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting gender equality and increasing the representation of women in the music industry. In her new position, Segura will lead SITM’s strategic vision, manage global programs and partnerships, and oversee the organization’s expansion efforts. Her responsibilities will include enhancing core initiatives such as all-women songwriting camps, a global creator database, mentorship programs, and advocacy work.

Before joining SITM, Segura served as the executive director of MusiCares, where she played a pivotal role in distributing over $51 million in relief to music professionals, including $35.7 million during the COVID-19 pandemic and $16 million in response to wildfires in Los Angeles. Her previous experience also includes a tenure as Vice President of Membership & Industry Relations at the Recording Academy, where she focused on diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Alicia Keys, a co-founder of SITM, expressed her pride in Segura's appointment, highlighting her commitment to uplifting individuals in the music industry and her understanding of the challenges women face.
