Frick Award for excellence in baseball broadcasting by the National Baseball Hall of Fame. This recognition makes him the 50th recipient of the award and the only father-son duo to achieve this honor alongside his father, Jack Buck, who received the award in 1987. Joe Buck expressed his surprise at the timing of the award, stating, "I am shocked in many ways. I didn't think this was coming right now."

He began his career with the Triple-A Louisville Redbirds in 1989 and joined his father for St. Louis Cardinals broadcasts in 1991. His first World Series was in 1996, and he continued to call the Fall Classic annually from 2000 to 2021. In addition to his World Series work, Buck has also covered 21 All-Star Games and 26 League Championship Series.
