12/11/2025, 8:58:20 PM

Overview of the New Lounge

JetBlue Airways is set to open its first airport lounge, named BlueHouse, at John F. Kennedy International Airport's Terminal 5 on December 18, 2025, at 5 a.m. ET. Spanning 9,000 square feet, the lounge is designed to evoke the feel of a New York City apartment but on a larger scale. This move marks JetBlue's entry into the competitive airport lounge market, traditionally dominated by larger carriers such as Delta Air Lines and credit card companies like Chase, American Express, and Capital One.

Features and Amenities

The BlueHouse lounge features a two-floor layout designed in an Art Deco style, offering free Wi-Fi, open seating, and a menu that includes New York staples like bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches for breakfast, as well as pastrami on rye for lunch. Beverage options include offerings from Joe Coffee and the beer-bar chain Greats of Craft, while the cocktail menu is curated by the speakeasy Please Don't Tell.

Access and Eligibility

Access to the BlueHouse lounge is limited to specific customer groups. Eligible guests include those booked in JetBlue's trans-Atlantic Mint business class cabin, who can bring one complimentary guest, with additional visitors charged $39. Holders of JetBlue's Premier Mastercard Mosaic 4 elite frequent flyer status also gain access. Starting in February, JetBlue plans to sell passes for lower-tier members, customers traveling in the Mint cabin, and other credit card holders, although pricing details have not yet been disclosed. Notably, customers traveling with basic economy tickets will not have access to the lounge.

Competitive Landscape

JetBlue's entry into the lounge market aligns with broader industry trends, as airlines and travel companies seek to enhance customer experiences and loyalty. Southwest Airlines CEO Bob Jordan has indicated that the airline is "actively pursuing" a network of airport lounges, highlighting the growing importance of such amenities in attracting and retaining customers willing to spend more on travel.

Official Statements & Responses

JetBlue has emphasized that the BlueHouse lounge is designed to provide a unique and comfortable experience for its customers, reflecting the airline's commitment to enhancing travel experiences. The lounge's design and offerings aim to set it apart from competitors, catering specifically to the needs of its premium travelers.

What's Next

Following the opening of the BlueHouse lounge at JFK, JetBlue plans to expand its lounge offerings with a second location slated to open at its hub in Boston next year. This expansion reflects the airline's strategy to enhance its service offerings and compete more effectively in the airline industry.
