A significant retail theft operation based in Queens has been dismantled, resulting in a 780-count indictment against 13 individuals accused of stealing over $2.2 million in merchandise from Home Depot stores across nine states. The thefts occurred between August 2024 and September 2025, with the crew executing 319 separate incidents at 128 Home Depot locations, according to Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz and New York Governor Kathy Hochul.

Among the indicted individuals, Armando Diaz, 52, is alleged to have coordinated the heists, maintaining communication with crew members via earbuds during the thefts. Joana Carolina “La Mona” Fermin, 38, typically monitored the area from the van, ensuring the crew's safety during operations.
