Kovacs Denies Orban's Shift

Zoltan Kovacs (Hungary's government spokesman) denied a Bloomberg report that Prime Minister Viktor Orban seeks a presidential system.
The report said Orban faces an April 2026 election and sought to extend power, including the presidency.
Hungary remains a parliamentary democracy since 1990 and the presidency is largely ceremonial.
A two-thirds parliamentary majority would be needed to change the system and Orban currently holds that majority.
