Michigan Revives License Plates

Michigan will reintroduce its red, white, and blue license plates in 2026 for U.S. 250th anniversary, inspired by the 1976 bicentennial design.
Plates go on sale January 2, 2026, after Governor Gretchen Whitmer signed Public Act 317 of 2023 to revive the plates and fund the Michigan Transportation Fund with a one-time $55 fee.
