Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-N.J.) has been elected New Jersey's first Democratic woman governor, defeating Republican Jack Ciattarelli by nearly 480,000 votes.
Sherrill secured 1,896,610 votes to Ciattarelli's 1,417,705.
The election results show significant divides, with Sherrill winning 301 municipalities to Ciattarelli's 261.
Sherrill drew strongest support from Jersey City, while Ciattarelli led in Lakewood with a Jewish coalition endorsement.
Sherrill will take office in January.
