Winslow Family Sues

The family of 15-year-old Troy Winslow filed a $30 million wrongful death lawsuit against the Boston Police Department over the January 4, 2024 police pursuit that killed Winslow and two other teens.
The suit alleges officers Triston Champagnie and Matthew Farley ignored orders to terminate the chase, which reached speeds over 90 mph.
It alleges racial profiling, saying the teens were targeted because of their race and neighborhood.

Parents Awarded Damages

A Connecticut judge awarded Anika Hunte and Dane Peterson nearly $32 million after their premature baby died due to the hospital's unauthorized use of cow-based formula.
The court determined that Yale New Haven Hospital failed to inform the parents about the risks associated with dairy-based products, resulting in their son developing necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC).
The baby, born at 27 weeks, was fed the formula despite the parents' request for only breast milk.
The ruling includes $1.9 million for medical expenses and $30 million for pain and suffering.
Yale New Haven Hospital has not commented on the case.
