Transurban, the toll road operator, has contributed $6.1 billion towards the construction costs in exchange for operating tolls on the new road and a 10-year extension to its CityLink contract. Motorists will incur additional tolls when using the West Gate Tunnel, with charges set at $4.09 for cars and $6.54 for utes or vans. If exiting during peak hours into specific roads, these fees increase, making the total cost for a car traveling through the tunnel and onward to Melbourne Airport approximately $10.63.
