On December 15, 2025, troops from the Joint Task Force Operation Enduring Peace (JTF OPEP) conducted a security operation in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, Nigeria. This operation was initiated following credible intelligence regarding a kidnapping attempt in the Dong community. Upon receiving intelligence about a kidnapping attempt, the troops mobilized to the Dong community. Major Samson Zhakom, the Media Information Officer for JTF OPEP, reported that the troops engaged the kidnappers, who subsequently fled the scene. However, during their retreat, the suspects moved to a nearby community where they abducted four individuals. The military pursued the kidnappers, leading to a firefight in which one kidnapper was killed. The operation yielded the recovery of an AK-47 rifle, a magazine, and four rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition from the neutralized suspect.
