Greece Enhances Naval Capabilities with French Frigate Delivery

Greece has officially taken delivery of the F601 Kimon, the first of four advanced frigates from France, marking a significant milestone in the modernization of its naval forces. The handover ceremony occurred on December 14, 2025, in Lorient, attended by Greece’s Defence Minister Nikos Dendias. Dendias emphasized the importance of this delivery, stating, "We are witnessing proof of the strategic relationship between Greece and France," and noted that it signifies the entry of the Greek Armed Forces and Navy into a "new era."
