Hallmark is set to produce a sequel to the popular 2023 film "A Biltmore Christmas," featuring Holland Roden and Niall Matter in leading roles. The new installment will explore a love story that unfolds between acquaintances in the Gilded Age and their modern-day counterparts. Jonathan Frakes will reprise his role as Winston from the original film. Production is scheduled to begin next month at the Biltmore Estate and various locations in Asheville, including the Fine Arts Theatre, Pack’s Tavern, and downtown areas. The film will be directed by Dustin Rikert, known for his work on "Holiday Touchdown: A Bills Love Story" and "The Christmas Quest," with a script penned by Marcy Holland, who also wrote the first film. Plot Overview
The sequel's narrative begins in 1895, when 13-year-old Elizabeth and her family visit Biltmore House for Christmas. During their stay, Elizabeth encounters Michael, a fellow teen who is caught trespassing. To help him, she claims to know him, leading to an instant connection. However, Michael mysteriously vanishes. Fast forward twenty years, Elizabeth returns to Biltmore, this time accompanied by her suitor James, whom her Aunt Maysilee hopes she will marry. At a Christmas gala, Elizabeth is surprised to find Michael, now a tourist from the present day, who had traveled back in time using a magical hourglass from Biltmore's library. The two must navigate their feelings while figuring out how to send Elizabeth back to her time without raising suspicions from Michael's family.
Filming Locations and Visual Elements
The sequel will showcase several iconic locations within the Biltmore Estate, including the Conservatory, Winter Garden, Tapestry Gallery, Banquet Hall, and Library, which featured prominently in the original film. New locations such as the Rooftop, Pergola, Swimming Pool, Bowling Alley, Breakfast Room, Oak Sitting Room, Main Kitchen, Music Room, and Mrs. Vanderbilt’s Bedroom will also be highlighted. Additional filming will take place at The Inn on Biltmore Estate, Antler Hill Village, and Biltmore Winery.
