Grupo Frontera, a regional Mexican band based in Texas, is set to make their Grammy debut with two nominations at the 2026 Grammy Awards. The nominations come after the band received recognition at the 2025 Latin Grammys, where they competed for best regional Mexican song and a collaboration with Fuerza Regida. Although they did not win at the Latin Grammys, the band expressed gratitude for being nominated alongside legendary groups like Los Tigres del Norte. At the Grammys on February 1, 2026, Grupo Frontera will vie for the best Música Mexicana album category for their EP "Mala mía," in collaboration with Fuerza Regida, and their solo EP "Y lo que viene."
Creative Collaborations and Musical Evolution
The idea for the collaborative EP with Fuerza Regida was inspired by the success of their hit "Bebé dame." Guitarist Beto Acosta noted that the chemistry between the two bands was a driving force behind their collaboration. The recording took place in Los Angeles, where they also produced additional tracks, including "Tu favorita," featuring Fuerza Regida and Chilean artist Cris MJ. Adelaido “Payo” Solis III, the band's vocalist, emphasized the fusion of their musical styles, stating, “They are from Los Angeles and we are from Texas… I feel that was a super perfect fusion.”
Since the release of their album "Lo que me falta por llorar," Grupo Frontera has continued to build momentum. They recently performed alongside Bad Bunny in Mexico City and released new singles, including "Beses así" featuring Calle 24, and a music video for "Se me sale."
Upcoming International Tour
Following a period focused on music production, Grupo Frontera is preparing for an international tour that will take them across Latin America and Europe. The tour will include stops in major cities such as Bogotá, Mexico City, Paris, London, Madrid, Milan, Quito, Buenos Aires, and Santiago de Chile. Payo remarked on the break from performing, stating, “To be honest, we didn’t realize just how much we would miss being up there.”
New Musical Direction
For their latest album, the band collaborated with Grammy-nominated producer Edgar Barrera and expanded their partnerships to include artists like Tito Double P, Los Dareyes de la Sierra, Ozuna, and Myke Towers. This album marks a shift in their lyrical approach, with Payo explaining, “Normally our lyrics are sad, but the music is happy. With this album, we tried to make the sad songs actually sound sad.”
As Grupo Frontera enters 2026, they carry the momentum of critical recognition and a significant opportunity to secure their first Grammy, marking a pivotal moment in their rapidly rising career.
