Spirit Airlines Employees Charged with Theft of Passenger's Wristlet

Two Spirit Airlines employees, Olukunle Idowu, 49, and Hyacinth Linton, 56, have been charged with theft following an incident at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport on October 19. The employees allegedly took possession of a Louis Vuitton wristlet valued at $505 that a passenger left behind at the airport gate. Surveillance footage revealed that Idowu discovered the wristlet three days later, examined its contents, and subsequently transferred it to another gate where Linton assisted in concealing the items.

The wristlet was left by a passenger preparing to board a flight to Austin, Texas. After finding the wristlet, Idowu reportedly looked inside it and then moved it to a different gate, where he and Linton poured its contents onto a counter. Idowu then placed the items into a plastic bag while Linton allegedly hid the wristlet in her backpack before discarding the bag in the trash. Idowu was arrested on November 21 and has pleaded not guilty to a charge of petit theft valued between $100 and $750. Linton was arrested earlier, on November 13, and has posted a $500 bond but has not yet entered a plea regarding her charge of petit theft under $40.
