A recent report by retirement specialists Just Group reveals that a significant number of pensioners in the UK are failing to claim benefits they are entitled to, with up to 74% of eligible individuals missing out on an average of £1,339 annually. This situation is particularly concerning for low-income pensioner households, many of whom are likely struggling amid the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.

However, the majority of these individuals are not taking advantage of these financial supports. Specifically, fewer than 24% of those eligible for council tax reductions are claiming the benefit, despite the average claim being over £1,000 per year.
