The image showed Maduro with U.S. forces and was misrepresented as his arrest after a Caracas raid on January 3.
Ian Weber used Google’s Gemini to craft the image and was surprised by its popularity.
Despite the clarification that the image was AI-generated, the image continued to spread.
Weber noted that larger accounts amplified its circulation.
