The age verification process involves users allowing the Roblox app to access their device's camera for facial age estimation. Users are assigned to one of six age groups: under 9, 9 to 12, 13 to 15, 16 to 17, 18 to 20, and 21 and above. Chat access is limited to users within the same age group and adjacent groups. For instance, users aged 9 to 12 can communicate with those under 9 and those aged 13 to 15. Children under 9 require parental consent to use chat features. Users aged 13 and older can also verify their age using government-issued identification.
