Allegations of Fund Mismanagement in Wayanad Rehabilitation Efforts

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] has publicly accused the Congress party in Kerala of failing to demonstrate transparency regarding the funds raised by the Opposition United Democratic Front (UDF) for the rehabilitation of families affected by the Wayanad landslides. CPI(M) State committee member and Excise Minister M.B. Rajesh made these allegations during a press conference in Thiruvananthapuram on January 13, 2025. He criticized Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan for his inability to clarify the use of significant funds collected for this purpose, suggesting that there are doubts about whether these funds were diverted to finance a recent leadership camp held at a luxury resort in Wayanad.

This controversy intensified after Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan stated that the government had no evidence of the Congress purchasing land or initiating construction for the promised housing.
