Murder Indictments Issued

Saunders' Fatal Arrest

Richard K. Saunders, 66, died in Illinois State Police custody on December 22, 2025.
The Logan County Coroner attributed Saunders' death to drug intoxication and cardiovascular disease.
The pursuit of a vehicle linked to an aggravated battery ended in Logan County after it struck a squad car.
Saunders was arrested but later suffered a medical emergency and died at Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
The investigation into his death is ongoing.
