Bamboo's rapid growth—taking only three to six years to mature—makes it an attractive option for sustainable building. Its larger varieties are particularly suitable for construction, and its natural resilience has been demonstrated in earthquake-prone regions like Colombia and the Philippines. Neil Thomas, director of Atelier One, emphasizes that bamboo can replace timber in many applications, highlighting its potential to reshape sustainable architecture.
