Fudan University and Huashan Hospital in Shanghai reported that the UltraBrainPad opened the blood-brain barrier in glioblastoma patients.
The ultrasound-based tool increased drug delivery eightfold and closed the blood-brain barrier within six hours after treatment.
The team reported safety and efficacy exceeded international standards.
They plan further studies on recurrent glioblastoma and will explore ultrasound brain-machine interfaces for Alzheimer's and other neurological disorders.
