Clio Barnard's "I See Buildings Fall Like Lightning" Acquired by Charades

Clio Barnard's upcoming feature film, "I See Buildings Fall Like Lightning," has been acquired for worldwide distribution by the Paris-based sales company Charades. The film, which was first announced in 2025, will be showcased at the European Film Market in Berlin. It is adapted from Keiran Goddard's novel by acclaimed writer Enda Walsh, known for works like "Die My Love" and "Hunger."

"I See Buildings Fall Like Lightning" centers on five childhood friends—Patrick, Shiv, Rian, Oli, and Conor—who navigated their youth together, skipping school and dreaming of their futures. Now in their thirties, they confront the reality that their aspirations are slipping away. The film features a notable ensemble cast, including Anthony Boyle, Joe Cole, Jay Lycurgo, Daryl McCormack, and Lola Petticrew, alongside Millie Brady, Lucie Shorthouse, and James Eeles.

The film is produced by Tracy O’Riordan of Moonspun Films, who has a longstanding collaboration with Barnard. It is co-financed by BBC Film and the British Film Institute (BFI), which provided National Lottery funding. Curzon Film will manage the film's distribution in the UK.
