The 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina will feature six athletes from the Washington, D.C. area, including Ilia Malinin, figure skater, and Brandon Kim, the speedskater, and will begin on February 6, 2026.
The Washington County Homeless Project provides shelter and support during winter, helping 18 individuals find temporary housing and meals.

Monks Promote Unity

Buddhist monks are on a 120-day, 2,300-mile trek from Virginia to Washington, D.C., to promote peace and unity.
Having reached Virginia on January 31 under harsh winter conditions, they are now on their 98th day, with a Capitol arrival planned for February 13.
Aloka the Peace Dog, who recently recovered from surgery, has rejoined the monks.
Community members are invited to walk with them.
