Reeves' Tax Reforms
- Chancellor Rachel Reeves' inheritance tax reforms, effective April 6, cap business-asset relief at £2.5 million and impose a 20% tax on amounts above the threshold.
- Families could incur immediate charges if they delay trusts to mitigate tax liabilities and risk a "fire sale" of commercial properties held in self-invested personal pensions (Sipps).
- Unspent pension funds, currently exempt from inheritance tax, will be included in estate calculations starting in April 2027.
