Filmology Labs: A New Era of Content Creation in Paterson, New Jersey

Alan Mruvka, a prominent real estate developer and co-creator of E! Entertainment Television, has announced the launch of Filmology Labs: Content Creation Studios in Paterson, New Jersey. This $250 million studio complex aims to revolutionize content creation by focusing on next-generation formats such as vertical micro-dramas, digital series, podcasts, and AI-driven media. The facility will be situated in the historic Reinhardt Building, also known as the Padded Wagon Building, which has a rich history as a former silk mill.

Mruvka emphasized the importance of engaging the local community, stating, “Our goal is to engage local schools to help train young people for careers in this fast-growing industry.” The initiative aims to draw investment into Paterson while showcasing the city on a global stage. Paterson Mayor André Sayegh expressed enthusiasm for the project, noting that it will create jobs, spark innovation, and support local businesses. He remarked, “This significant investment will help position our city at the forefront of the evolving media and entertainment economy.”

Filmology Labs is designed to differ fundamentally from traditional sound stages, focusing on speed, efficiency, and scale. The complex will feature 21 production sound stages equipped with pre-built, fully lit, permanent standing sets optimized for vertical storytelling. This innovative approach is intended to reduce the time and costs typically associated with set design and construction, allowing for quicker and more economical production of micro-dramas and digital content.

In addition to production facilities, the campus will include advanced resources such as AI studios, podcast studios, a green-screen stage, and an LED Volume Wall stage similar to that used in the popular series “The Mandalorian.” The complex will also provide creative office space, a commissary capable of serving 200 people, and a fitness and yoga studio.
