The Same Same Wine Bar in Hell's Kitchen, New York City, has recently transformed into the world's first café designed for individuals to date their AI companions. Open from 5 p.m. to midnight, the venue allows patrons to bring their devices to engage in romantic interactions with AI-generated partners. On its opening night, attendees were seen propping up their phones and laptops to facilitate video calls with their virtual companions.

Julia Momblat, head of partnerships at EvaAI, the app behind the café, emphasized the café's purpose: “We wanted to give the opportunity to people to take the AI companion on a real date in real life to destigmatize AI relationships.” She clarified that AI partners are not meant to replace human relationships but to support individuals who may be without companionship.
