Udit Narayan Faces Allegations of Non-Consensual Surgery by First Wife

Bollywood singer Udit Narayan Jha is embroiled in controversy following allegations made by his first wife, Ranjana Jha. On February 10, 2026, Ranjana Jha filed a complaint at a women’s police station in Supaul district, Bihar, claiming that her uterus was surgically removed without her consent during an operation in 1996. Ranjana Jha, 61, stated that she was married to Udit Narayan Jha on December 7, 1984, under Hindu rituals. She alleged that Udit Narayan and his two brothers, Sanjay Kumar Jha and Lalit Narayan Jha, took her to a hospital in Delhi under the pretext of medical treatment, where the surgery occurred.

Following Udit Narayan's move to Mumbai in 1985 to pursue his singing career, she claimed to have learned through media reports that he had remarried another woman, Deepa Narayan. Ranjana Jha accused Udit Narayan of misleading her regarding his marital status and stated that she faced verbal abuse and was denied entry into his residence in Mumbai in 2006. She has since been living at her parental home in Supaul.
