A woman surnamed Kim was arrested in Seoul on February 12, 2023, for allegedly causing two deaths with drug-laced drinks.
Investigators suspect she intended to murder her boyfriend and two other men using prescribed benzodiazepine drugs, which can cause paralysis or breathing difficulties, especially with alcohol.
The first incident occurred on December 14, 2022, followed by two more in January and February 2023, resulting in fatalities.
Police believe Kim prepared the drinks in advance and increased the drug dosage for the later victims.
A search of her home revealed more bottles similar to those used in the crimes.
