Shudder Acquires North American Rights to "Hellcat"

Shudder, a streaming service specializing in horror content, has acquired the North American rights to "Hellcat," a psychological horror thriller directed by Brock Bodell. This film marks Bodell's feature directorial debut and is set to premiere at the Fantasia International Film Festival before its release later this year. The film has already garnered positive critical reception, showcasing Bodell's previous recognition on the festival circuit with his short film "Grief."

"Hellcat" follows the story of Lena, a woman who awakens with a severe wound inside a moving camper trailer. The driver informs her that they have only one hour to reach medical assistance, as her condition worsens. As Lena's perception of reality becomes increasingly unreliable, the film intensifies the suspense surrounding who poses the real threat to her survival.

The film features Dakota Gorman, known for her role in "Natural Disasters," alongside a supporting cast that includes Todd Terry from "Breaking Bad," Liz Atwater from "The Other People," Jordan Mullins from "The Bikeriders," and James Austin Johnson, a cast member of "Saturday Night Live," who provides a voice role. Bodell not only directed but also wrote the film, with production support from Andrew Duensing and Nate Eggert. Executive producers include Maris Bodell, Noah Lang, and Matt Phelps, while Zak Engel composed the film's score.

Blue Finch Films, a U.K.-based sales and distribution company, is handling the international release of "Hellcat."
