In a recent high court appearance, Wright vehemently denied the allegations, labeling them as “absolute cobblers” and expressing that they have “completely devastated” him. He stated, “I have never bugged, burgled or ‘blagged’ information about Lady Lawrence, her family members, or her legal representatives.” Wright emphasized his long-standing commitment to the Lawrence family’s pursuit of justice, having worked for 25 years on the campaign that led to the conviction of two men for Stephen Lawrence's murder.

He stated, “I have never paid a serving police officer or known any police officer to be paid by the Daily Mail.
