Teacher Banned Indefinitely for Sexual Misconduct in Essex

Peter Ledwidge, a former religious studies teacher at the Anglo European School in Essex, has been banned from teaching indefinitely due to serious allegations of sexual misconduct. An investigation revealed that Ledwidge engaged in inappropriate behavior, including sending sexually motivated emails, giving unwanted gifts, and secretly photographing and filming students.

Between October 2019 and May 2021, Ledwidge sent numerous inappropriate emails to a student, referring to her as “special” and his “favourite.” One email included a poetic reference to the student, while another urged her not to disclose their correspondence. Additionally, he provided her with mock exam questions in advance, further blurring professional boundaries. Witness statements indicated that the student felt “sick with disgust” by the gifts, which included a pair of stockings wrapped in customized paper featuring her face.
