Arsenal Football Club has made significant strides in improving accessibility for disabled supporters, ensuring that they can enjoy the matchday experience with greater ease and comfort. Thomas Clements, a supporter with cerebral palsy, reflects on his experiences, emphasizing the importance of thoughtful planning for disabled fans. Clements appreciates the seamless support provided by Arsenal, stating, “Without these little extra touches, the matchday experience wouldn’t be what it is.” This sentiment is echoed by Andrew Birch, founder of Game Day Vision, a service designed to assist disabled fans, particularly those with visual impairments, in navigating to and from the stadium.

Game Day Vision, which also collaborates with clubs such as West Ham, Colchester, Ipswich, and Crystal Palace, aims to provide bespoke assistance to disabled supporters. Birch highlights the logistical challenges faced by users, noting that the service originally catered to visually impaired fans but is expanding to include support for individuals with various disabilities. Matthew Shaw, a regular user, emphasizes the social aspect of the service, stating, “Coming on your own is no fun. It’s nice to meet up with people.” The initiative relies on a network of about 40 volunteers, including Tony Saunders, who help facilitate the service and provide companionship to fans like Daniel Bailey, chair of the Arsenal Disabled Supporters’ Association.
