Reform UK Proposes Controversial Immigration Overhaul

Reform UK, led by Nigel Farage, has unveiled a radical immigration policy aimed at deporting illegal migrants and establishing a UK Deportation Command. This initiative, termed "Operation Restoring Justice," seeks to deport up to 600,000 individuals annually, with the capacity to detain 24,000 at any given time. Zia Yusuf, the party's home affairs spokesperson, emphasized the urgency of the situation, claiming the UK is experiencing an "invasion" of migrants. He stated, “Make no mistake, as home secretary, I will end and indeed reverse this invasion, because the patience of the British people is now exhausted.”

The proposed UK Deportation Command would operate five flights daily to facilitate deportations. Yusuf has also suggested imposing visa freezes on countries such as Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Syria if they refuse to accept deported nationals. The party plans to terminate the indefinite leave to remain status, replacing it with a renewable five-year work visa, which could affect many current residents.

He stated, “The dictionary definition of invasion is an incursion by a large number of people in an unwanted way.” However, this rhetoric has drawn significant criticism. Labour Party chair Anna Turley described the plans as “a direct attack on settled families” and fundamentally un-British. Amnesty International UK has expressed concerns that such policies could lead to a system characterized by fear and discrimination, similar to the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
