Inquiry Reveals Causes of Leicester's 2022 Hindu-Muslim Clashes

An independent inquiry into the violent clashes between Hindu and Muslim communities in Leicester during 2022 has identified online disinformation and a lack of effective leadership as key factors contributing to the unrest. The violence, which occurred between May and September 2022, involved vandalism and assaults, leading to over 50 arrests. The inquiry, led by human rights expert Juan Méndez, was conducted by researchers from the School of Oriental and African Studies and the London School of Economics.
