Reed Hastings Donates $5 Million to Support Ukrainian Combat Medics

Reed Hastings, co-founder, chairman, and former CEO of Netflix, has reaffirmed his commitment to supporting Ukraine amidst its ongoing conflict with Russia by donating $5 million to White Stork, a charity focused on aiding combat medics. This donation comes as the war enters its fourth year and aims to enhance the capabilities of medics on the frontline by providing anti-drone jamming systems and other essential resources. Hastings previously contributed $2 million to White Stork in 2025 and $1 million to Razom for emergency relief efforts.

White Stork, which is recognized as the largest non-governmental organization supplying individual first aid kits and anti-drone jamming systems to Ukraine, has reported that the evolving nature of warfare necessitates new resources for Ukrainian combat medics. William McNulty, head of mission at White Stork and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, emphasized the critical need for these jamming systems, which counteract Russian drones targeting evacuation vehicles. With Hastings' latest contribution, White Stork plans to increase its production of jamming systems to 80 units per month.

Since the onset of the war, White Stork has delivered over 174,000 combat first aid kits and 471 jamming systems. The organization prioritizes local production, with 100% of the expenses for jamming systems and 67% of the costs for first aid kit components directed towards Ukrainian manufacturers. This strategy not only supports immediate military needs but also aims to bolster Ukraine's domestic defense industry. Alexander Kamyshin, Ukraine’s presidential advisor for strategic affairs, noted that Hastings' donation is instrumental in maintaining a technological advantage on the battlefield.

His past donations include $50 million for AI research at Bowdoin College, $500 million in Netflix shares to the Silicon Valley Community Foundation, and significant contributions to various educational and social causes, including $120 million to historically Black colleges and universities and $30 million to the Gavi Alliance for immunization efforts.
