New Crime Drama Series Explores the Life and Death of King Ludwig II of Bavaria

Beta Film has partnered with German public broadcaster ARD to produce a high-end crime drama series titled *Ludwig*, centered on the enigmatic King Ludwig II of Bavaria, often referred to as the "Fairy Tale King" or the "Mad King." The series, produced by W&B Television, follows psychologist Gustav Zimmermann, who reviews a psychiatric report that led to Ludwig's removal from power and subsequent mysterious death in 1886. Filming took place at historical sites including Castle Neuschwanstein and the Residenz in Munich, as well as locations in the Czech Republic.

The series is directed by Nina Vukovic and Sebastian Ko, both of whom also contributed as writers. The head writers are Dominik Kempf and Marianne Wendt.
