NexGen's Rook I project is anticipated to become one of the largest uranium mines globally, with a production capacity of up to 30 million pounds (over 13,000 tonnes) of uranium annually. This output would account for more than 20% of the current global uranium supply and over half of the supply for the Western world. The project is projected to generate significant economic benefits, including an estimated $37 billion in economic output over its lifespan and the creation of approximately 1,400 jobs annually in Saskatchewan.
The company has emphasized the importance of collaboration with local Indigenous communities, securing endorsements and benefit agreements with the Clearwater River Dene Nation, Birch Narrows Dene Nation, Buffalo River Dene Nation, and the Métis Nation-Saskatchewan.
